For maximum grip in the game

What is the difference between overgrip and grip tape?
You may be wondering what the difference is between an overgrip grip tape and a grip tape or base grip tape. It's very simple: the grip tape or base grip tape is the base, the main layer. This is wrapped directly onto the bare racket handle. It protects the racket handle and creates a cushioning layer.

The overgrip tennis grip, on the other hand, is wrapped over the grip tape / base grip tape to provide additional comfort and grip. Since the grip tape quickly gets dirty from the clay or simply wears out when played frequently, this overgrip is changed.

This is also the big difference between overgrip grip tape and basic grip tape on tennis rackets. The overgrip grip tape can be easily changed and thus protects the basic grip tape. This means it can be replaced more often and more easily.

What is a basic grip tape?
The basic grip tape is the main tape that you wrap directly onto the bare handle of the tennis racket. It is made of durable material such as natural rubber and/or synthetic blends. It ensures a soft grip and thus increases comfort. This avoids unnecessary strain on your arm and protects your hands from blisters or similar injuries. A basic grip tape is often equipped with an adhesive surface and is actively glued to the handle. Basic grip tapes are also thicker and are usually 1 - 1.5 mm thick.

What is an overgrip grip tape?
Overgrip grips are thinner bands (on average between 0.3 and 0.7 mm) that you wrap over the base grip of your tennis racket. They are designed to provide additional comfort and grip. Especially if you sweat a lot or simply prefer a softer and grippier feel, then an overgrip grip is just right for you. Our grips from Otaro absorb sweat more effectively than other overgrips, provide a secure hold and are 2-3x more durable than other grips. The overgrip tennis racket grip does not have a full adhesive strip and is therefore easy to change.

Tennis Overgrip Yes or No?
The decision to use an overgrip is entirely up to you. If you prefer extra comfort and grip or tend to sweat a lot, then an overgrip grip is the better option for you. It is also super convenient to be able to quickly replace the grip. For example, if it is worn out or dirty. But ultimately it depends on your individual preferences whether you should use an overgrip grip or not.

How do you change a tennis grip correctly? How to change a tennis grip correctly
Changing an overgrip tennis grip tape is easier than you think. First, remove the usually black adhesive strip that fixes the grip tape to the racket. Then carefully unwind the old grip tape by unwinding it from bottom to top. The base grip tape underneath should now be visible.

Now make sure that the racket handle is clean and free of dirt and adhesive residue. Then take the new overgrip grip tape and remove the protective films. Then start from the bottom (the side of the handle end) to wrap it evenly around the racket handle. Make sure to press it firmly so that it sits well. Once you have wrapped it completely, cut off the excess end and secure it with adhesive tape or the included finishing tape.

The Otaro Overgrip tennis grips are already pre-cut and are perfectly tailored to the usual length of the racket handles. This means you do not need any additional tools to attach a new grip.

When should you change the grip tape?
It is important to change the grip tape regularly to ensure optimal grip and also the ability to absorb sweat. Some signs that it is time to change the overgrip grip tape are signs of wear, tear, dirt or a loss of grip. Most of the time the grip tape then feels rather slippery and no longer sits firmly in the hand. If you notice that your grip tape has lost its original properties, you should replace it to have the best possible playing feel.

A firm grip is important so that your punches can be placed well and make your opponent sweat.

Which grip tape?
Choosing the right grip depends on your personal preferences and needs. There are different materials, textures and thicknesses to choose from. If you are looking for a durable and grippy grip, then you have come to the right place. The 3-layer material mix of natural rubber and synthetic blended foams are the best choice. Try the Otaro grip and I promise you that you will never put any other overgrip grip on your racket again.

Buy the best tennis racket grip
When you're looking for the best overgrip tennis racket grip, there are several factors you should consider. Look for quality, grip, durability, and comfort. Remember that the overgrip grip can have a big impact on your game, so invest in a high-quality grip that will give you the optimal grip and comfort.
Many players get sweaty hands, especially on hot summer match days. Therefore, the focus should be on high sweat absorption. Sweat-absorbing overgrip grips ensure maximum grip in your hand, even during intense matches.

Try our Otaro Overgrip grips for yourself - you will love them!
